  • I worked with Pat for several years and during this time I observed that, as a messenger, Pat empathizes with the receiver. He took time to repeat the message he communicated. He managed by meeting directly with the employees - he led by example. He empowered his subordinates & strengthened their well-being, consequently, their effectiveness in achieving the organizational goals. He reduced organizational politics by providing clear rules, free flow of information and training. In addition he supported team’s norms and created a corporate culture that discouraged dysfunctional politics by inspiring organizational citizenship. To motivate employees, Pat set specific goals that were relevant and challenging but not too difficult to discourage staff. Feedback was constructive and specific to the goal. In many occasions, not matter how high his position, he took time to guide and coach employees to reach their peak performance level. Pat management style increased organization commitment because he supported fairness, courtesy and employees well-being. As employee I identified with and felt obligated to work for the organization where he was managing because he inspired trust. Regardless of the organization’s culture employees identified with Pat and respected him. His Charisma produced a high degree of trust and devotion towards our work and the organization. With managers like Pat, corporate objectives can be achieved more easily.
